General Meeting Minutes for November 13, 2007

 

·        Summary

    • Meeting held at Azalea Park Rec. Center

    • Called to order by Sandy Weeks, Vice President, at 6:35 PM

    • Officers: Mark Pennington (Treasurer), Bob Walters (Ambassador), and Shannon Whitmore (Secretary) in attendance.  President Tom Lashbrook not in attendance.

    • 19 residents and visitors attended the meeting



·        SDPD: Officer Pat Norris: Community Relations Officer: 619-516-3009

o       Narcotics

·        Arrests/issues have been taken care of

·        A couple of guys still hanging around the area

o       Properties issues: Code compliance is doing a follow-up

o       Gang Issues

·        7 homicides, 15 stabbings in the last couple of weeks

·        Issue is with different gangs

o       Other complaints go way down on the list when officers are handing these kinds of complaints, which are a lot more serious

o       Dispatch

·        People are on hold for 20+ minutes calling the non-emergency number.  Need to stay on the line and wait until you talk to somebody.  An incident with an incident number will be generated.

·        Recent noise complaints did not get dispatched for a long time

1.      3 callers are not needed in order to dispatch someone on this

2.      Case was closed out because there were no follow-up calls

3.      Need to call back hourly when there is not a response

4.      There are ways to work to the system that are beneficial to you

o       Incident Numbers

·        History of a person/address is available years after something has occurred

·        Get incident numbers to follow up with neighborhood code compliance

·        Pat Norris can pull the incident numbers for a particular residence.

·        Keep notes and incident numbers.  If enough are generated, you can take civil action ($7500 per incident).

o       Dog Complaints

·        Will deal with aggressive dogs, but the dog may become a target

 

·        APNA business

o       Great Halloween party was held at the Rec center

o       Popcorn popper is available for any parties

·        It is currently available at Tom and Larry’s

o       The next meeting is the holiday potluck

·        Voluntary white elephant gift exchange

·        Eddie is going to do his puppets for the kids

·        Asking Randy to be Santa again

 

·        Announcements

o       Mrs. Sprague is turning 90 soon

·        December 2nd b-day party at Tom and Larry’s, 2:00

·        Potluck

o       Tom and Larry’s orphan Christmas on Christmas day

·        From early morning until way late at night

·        Food bank donation will be at their house

·        Potluck

o       Treasurer: Need more donations

·        Parkster is down to 2 more issues

·        Linda will ask for another grant from Price Charities

o       Suggestions being taken for fundraisers

 

 

·        Face Lift

o       Huge success – 23 people from the neighborhood participated

o       Look at Tom’s pictures online

 

·        On December 1 we are gearing up to help Swan Canyon with an Arrundo fire break

o       Working with Wetland Avengers and Sierra club

o       Helping to put a fire break up to the houses

o       Volunteers wanted, but let Linda know if you are coming

 

·        Other Announcements

o       Next APNA gathering: Holiday Potluck, Tuesday December 11, 6:30 PM

o       No minutes will be taken for this meeing
