AZALEA PARK DESIGN COMMITTEE

APPROVED MEETING MINUTES

Friday, May 28, 2004

Attendance:      Chair Liz Christensen, Linda Pennington, Vicki Leon, Maxx Stalheim, Michael Sprague.

1.      Member input – Maxx stated that the Neighborhood Association received the San Diego Foundateion Grant for $2700. This will probably go well with the neighborhood improvement projects. Vicki suggested that the money be used to fund the outreach aspect of the identification project.

2.      Approval of minutes – Minutes from 2/23/04 and 4/9/04, and the memo written by Kim Herbstritt were approved unanimously. No minutes were taken on 4/23/04 or 5/14/04 due to lack of quorum.

3.      Arts Grant – Vicki stated that we should know the results in 4 weeks.

4.      Update on Contract for Neighborhood Identification Signage– Liz and Vicki will set up a meeting with Harmon to touch base on design concepts. When the design committee reviews the conceptual designs, it should be at a well publicized meeting. The Designs should be presented to the APNA at 2 meetings prior to a final vote. Articles should also go in the Flash and Parkster.

5.      Street Trees – Liz stated that the recent request for participation in tree planting projects by People For Trees would be a great opportunity for the Design Committee to do something that will improve the neighborhood in the short term. The committee discussed the timing of the project and Liz agreed to see if it would be possible to organize a planting date in August.
