1.      Member input – Liz welcomed new attendee John Stump to the Design Committee meeting. 2.      Approval of minutes – Minutes from the 5/28/04 meeting were not yet available.

3.      Arts Grant – Liz stated that although official results of the jury review of Art Grant applications were not yet available, one of the jurors had told Vicki that we had received a high score. John suggested contacting our city councilperson to make sure the project receives maximum funding.

4.      Update on Contract for Neighborhood Identification Signage– Kim stated that the contract process is complete and the city now has a finalized and signed contract for Harmon’s services and described the timeline of events that must occur within the contract. Kim also urged that articles be written as soon as possible to be included in the next issue of the Parkster. John suggested that the Committee contact Caltrans as soon as possible to start getting their cooperation with the bridge location. He stated that the permit person with Caltrans is Jake Martinez. Kim stated that due to her other obligations with Friends of the Canyon, the Parkster, and Neighborhood watch, she will no longer be an active participant in the Design Committee, and has instructed the city planner, Marlon P. to henceforth contact Liz regarding the Identification Signage project.

5.      Street Trees – Liz stated that she contacted Patrick Stevenson from People for Trees regarding a planting date. He is very excited about having the Design Committee help organize a planting date, which he stated that he had already scheduled to occur on June 26, 2004. The neighborhood must sign up at least 25 trees by June 15 in order for this to happen. Liz stated that she had already distributed a number of applications at the Neighborhood Association meeting, and would like the Committee members to ask their friends and neighbors about planting trees. Liz will fax in any applications that are returned to her.
