TEMPORARY DOG FOSTERING

Lately, the San Diego Animal Support Foundation is receiving a different kind of request from the public.....we are receiving e-mails from people who are losing their homes due to foreclosure or layoffs, and they need temporary care for their animals until they can find a pet-friendly rental.  These are people who DO NOT want to take their pets to a shelter.
Obviously, we'd much rather see someone put their pet in temporary foster care, and search for a pet-friendly
rental, rather than take the pets to a shelter!  Unfortunately, the regular foster homes stay packed full of shelter pets, so they're usually not a good source of temporary foster homes for dogs who already belong to someone.
So, I am writing to ask if you'd be willing to help in these situations.  When we receive these requests, I'd like
to be able to forward them to you, and if you can help, great, contact the people.  If, however, it's not a good time for you to foster a dog because, for example, you're going on vacation, or are working on a remodeling project, etc, you would just delete the e-mail.  All dogs would be required to be spayed/neutered, and fully vaccinated before being helped through this program.  Also, the owners would be expected to provide food and take care of medical expenses.
If you want to forward the e-mails on to anyone YOU know who may want to help temporarily, that would be a
great help.
Thank you for your willingness to help during this time of need!

Sincerely,
Darlene
